NOISES OFF

(In theatrical stage directions, the term "noises off" specifies sounds that are meant to originate offstage)

Noises Off presents the hilarious story of a hapless English acting troupe who are touring a production of a comedy called “Nothing On”. The play within the play is a typical british sex farce,  but the real hilarity of NOISES OFF is the interaction between the actors as problems ensue and relationships get temperamental.

NOISES OFF cleverly exploits these complications by showing us first the final dress rehearsal, with all the inherent hysteria, forgotten and miscreant props, and personal friction. In the second act we see a portion of Nothing On during a matinee one month later, but from the view of backstage. Finally in Act 3 we witness a performance near the end of their run, now from the front again as the actors attempt to cover up a series of mishaps, only making the chaos worse!

You may remember the film version of NOISES OFF which starred Michael Caine, John Ritter, Christopher Reeve, Denholm Elliot, Marilu Henner, Julie Hagerty Nicolette Sheridan and Mark Linn-Baker.

NOISES OFF is written by Michael Frayn. CCT production is Directed by Dean Johnson, and features a great comic cast:

Patrick Beckstead as Tim Allgood

Jeff Frohwein as Gary Lejeune

Courtney Johnson as Belinda Blair

Vivien Latham as Dotty Otley
